What is the difference between Photographic Art Prints and Traditional
Photographic Prints?
Photographic Art Prints are made in house on our ink-jet printer using
archival inks, paper and protective coating. They are available in only two
sizes: 13"x19"; and 6"x9", matted to 11"x14".
Traditional Photographic Prints are made at a professional lab using a
combination of digital and silver-based techniques and materials. They are
available in a variety of sizes.
Any of the photographs on my site can be created for you by either method,
keeping in mind these guidelines.
Traditional Prints
These are prints produced with traditional image making techniques, i.e., silver based photographic paper processed in a wet darkroom. They do not include any type or descriptive blurb on the front of the print. Many people prefer this more traditional look. The higger cost per print reflects the intensive hand labor necessary for its creation. If the photograph was made by a living photographer, his/her signature slip is affixed to the obverse side of the print. No matting or framing is avaiable with these prints.

Matted Prints
These prints are the perfect choice for small spaces or on a wall design with several other works of art. They also make excellent gifts. They are produced with state of the art archival inks and acid-free papers. There is a one-line description included just below the image.

Photographic Art Prints
These are prints produced with archival inks on acid-free paper. Life should be at least five~ten decades. But no guarantee can be made regarding their permanence because of the infinite number of variables that come into play after they leave our hands: how the print is matted and framed and the type of light under which it is displayed are critial factors that affect its life. No matting or framing is available with these prints.
